About GTA Update

What is GTA Update?

GTA Update is a real-time incident tracker for the Greater Toronto Area. It monitors public dispatch feeds from Toronto Police Service (TPS) and Toronto Fire Services (TFS) and displays calls as they come in — giving you a live, continuously updated view of what is being responded to across the city and surrounding areas.

Each entry in the table shows the call type, approximate location, time of dispatch, responding units, and division. The feed refreshes automatically, so you don't need to reload the page to see new incidents.

You can narrow what you see using the controls at the top of the page — filter by service (police, fire, or both), set a time window from 1 to 24 hours, hide medical assist calls, or show only fire calls with a second alarm or higher.

What is it for?

GTA Update exists for one reason: it is interesting to look at. That is it.

Some people use it to satisfy curiosity when they hear sirens outside. Some use it to get a rough sense of how busy a particular area has been. Some use it because they find the rhythm of a city's emergency activity genuinely fascinating. All of those are fine uses.

What it is not for is described in the next section, and that part matters a lot more.

Where does the data come from?

All data is sourced from publicly available dispatch feeds published by Toronto Police Service and Toronto Fire Services. These are the same feeds that power each agency's own public-facing platforms. GTA Update reads, parses, and displays that public information — nothing more.

There is no special or privileged access to any dispatch system. No internal communications, restricted databases, or non-public information is involved in any way.

⚠ This site is for entertainment purposes only

Do not use this site to make any decision about anything that matters.

This includes but is not limited to: deciding whether your neighbourhood is safe, determining whether an incident near you is resolved, assessing emergency response times, drawing conclusions about crime or fire risk in any area, or acting — or not acting — based on what you see here.

The data shown on this site is delayed, incomplete, and imprecise by design. Incidents appear when they enter the public feed, which may be seconds, minutes, or longer after they occur. Calls are frequently updated, reclassified, merged, or cancelled after they first appear. Locations are approximate. Unit assignments change. What you see is a snapshot of a noisy, partial, delayed signal — not a ground truth.

Using this site as a substitute for official information, professional judgement, or common sense is a mistake. It will not give you an accurate picture of what is happening. It will give you an entertaining one, which is a very different thing.

In any emergency, call 911. Do not check this website first. Do not check this website instead. Call 911.

Accuracy and data limitations

The following limitations apply at all times and should be assumed to affect every entry on the site:

  • Data may be delayed by an unknown amount of time relative to the actual event
  • Incidents may be cancelled, duplicated, or reclassified after they first appear
  • Locations are approximate and may not reflect the precise address of an incident
  • Call types and descriptions reflect dispatch categorisation, not confirmed incident details
  • Unit counts and assignments change throughout an incident and may not be current
  • The feed may have gaps, outages, or periods where data is missing entirely

No warranty is made — express or implied — about the accuracy, completeness, timeliness, or fitness for any purpose of any data displayed on this site.
